UCI is dedicated to the model of “Prayer, Care, and Share”. As we started praying in 2005, God opened our eyes to the plight of the children in our area. So many were malnourished.
In order to meet this need in an efficient way, UCI created feeding centers where children are able to come and receive a meal during the week. Children who previously relied on eating the ashes from the fire to fill their stomachs are being provided a nutritional meal 3 to 4 times a week. There are currently 9 nutrition centers in 9 communities.
These centers strive to teach the parents to plant their own gardens and receive female goats as an investment opportunity so that they can feed their own families.
Our nutrition centers provide:
- Health teaching
- Garden education
- Clothes distribution
- Evangelical opportunities to spread the Gospel to the whole family
Merely handing out food has provided opportunities to share the Gospel and to talk about God's Word. By sponsoring a nutrition center, you can provide food to children who would otherwise go hungry.
A gift of $300 per month feeds 30-40 children, 4 times per week, where the message of Christ is shared with children from the nutrition center.
At the nutrition centers:
- Children are being fed
- Several children receive scholarships to UCC
- Children receive clothes and food and medical help for their families through our visiting mission teams
- Entire families are learning about God through Bible stories, songs, and Vacation Bible School.
Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
